Writing a Book

There are many styles to writing a book. Check out all the books you have. Some of them write in small chapters. Some of them have separate pages for each segment of a larger story. Some give a full chapter to each character. The structure of the book is important. It holds your story and helps the reader maneuver through the purpose for the book.

To chose a structure, check out the way other authors organize their messages, stories, point of views or plots. By reviewing what authors have already accomplished, you will best understand what structure your book best needs to hold.

Once you get the larger structure you can focus on the smaller details such as inserting quotes, chapter headings, photos.

I like simplicity. It makes life more beautiful. But whether life is simple or complicated, I find that when I let my pen free-write what I am thinking, feeling and doing I get a deeper understanding and wisdom of the life I am living. As a licensed clinical social worker of 30 plus years, I use writing with clients to help them center their lives with this valuable tool. Best of all, writing has allowed me to find my creative muse which I use in every area of my life.
